It’s A Coloring Book!

My child has been illustrating the fliers for the community aid and resource fairs I have been organizing. Frogs in Winter, they even read a storytime at that fair, a little story about mutual aid, how a frog got thru winter with the help of friends. Bunnies in spring, a more traditional pairing. Now birds in summer and they already plan to do bears in autumn. I deeply appreciate how they envision the ways we can share and love each other. And love nothing more than to lift up their imagination.

So when I shared the latest flier, for our upcoming Summer atlFREEfair, Fiza planted a seed by saying, “I need a coloring book of your kiddo’s work.” Upon reading the message, I felt a full bodied confirmation. Yes, we will make that. And we did.

This is a collaborative creation by Violet, age 9 and me, Mama. Unschoolers and collaborators on atlFREEfair, a Raising Comrades community project, creating a seasonal space for learning, playing and sharing together. Seeding connections, conversations and new skills that will support us in the days ahead.
